Altough Brazil produces only 30% of current demand for rubber and import 70%, the expectation is that the state of Mato Grosso do Sul reach 1 million hectares by 2030. According to the director of the Cautex Florestal, Getúlio Ferreira, the international market is already showing signs of negative production, in some situation, and between 2013 and 2014, Mato Grosso do Sul is the Brazilian state that will plant more trees.
This information was passed on the last Tuesday (25) in the city of Jaraguari, in Mato Grosso do Sul, during the Programa Mais Floresta - initiative that provides lectures and workshops to encourage the cultivation of eucalyptus and rubber trees. According to the superintendent of the National Rural Learning - Senar / MS, Clodoaldo Martins, this is a good opportunity for Brazil to be less dependent on international markets considering MS has soil and climate favorable for planting.
