During the IV Brazilian Congress of Private Reserve of Natural Heritage that happened between 26 and 29 October 2011 in the Auditorium Dante Barone of Legislative Assembly in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, was decided which city would host the next Brazilian Congress of RPPN. According to the representatives of REPAMS (Owners Association of RPPNs of Mato Grosso do Sul) who where representing the institution during the meeting, Cyntia Cavalcante Santos (REPAMS biologist) and Machado de Sousa Laertius (founding member of REPAMS) the dispute was between the cities Bonito (Mato Grosso do Sul) and Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais). At first the members of the National Confederation chose their favorite cities. At the time there was a tie, four votes to Bonito (MS) and four votes to Belo Horizonte (MG). As a tie-breaker, the event`s organizers took the dispute to plenary, with 22 participants voted in Belo Horizonte and 46 participants preferred the event to be held in MS, was elected the city of Bonito to host the next congress. Bonito is one of the best ecotourism destinations in Brazil by the vast and beautiful local biodiversity. Among the main activities in the region are on floating tours, nature trails, boat trips and scuba diving that can be done in rivers, lakes and caves.
